Last week, I helped out with staffing the WordPress.com booth at NMX/NAB in Las Vegas. This was a really large event with a wide range of exhibitors and attendees. This was my first time staffing an A8C-sponsored event and it was a very unique experience. Previously, I have only attended design/dev focused conferences and this event was not really web focused at all – it seemed to be more media and broadcasting.
Despite the primary focus being outside of the web world, our booth got a very heavy amount of traffic. We gave away tons of WP swag: sunglasses, tote bags, stickers, etc. I mainly spent my time working at the Happiness Bar where we were able to help many users (both existing and new) with questions about WordPress in general, themes, issues with their existing sites, and setting up new sites/accounts. We also scanned the visitor’s badges so we can send them a follow-up email with resources and information about WordPress and our other products.
