  • San Diego – 2018

A couple months ago, I went on a work trip and got to go back to my favorite city. While most of our time was spent working at our AirBnB, we got to enjoy our evenings at some of my favorite places and restaurants. I even got to try a few new places that I never made it to while I lived there!

I flew in a couple of extra days early to hang out with my uncle and a couple of friends. But, as always, I wish I had more time!

  • New York City, Part II

A few weeks ago, I got to travel to NYC for the second time this year. While this was a work trip, I also had a little bit of time to explore the city again.

I revisited some of my favorites from last trip and explored some new areas and places to eat, as well.

  • Road Trip Delays

My family and I have been making trips up to MI about twice a year to visit friends and family up there. Now that we’re living on the east coast, we’ve been driving each time.

It’s really not a bad drive at all – if we leave early enough and don’t stop too often, we can make it in around 12.5-13.5 hours. I mean, don’t get me wrong, that’s a long trip, especially with a child. But it’s scenic for at least half of the trip, through the mountains from NC through KY … then there’s Ohio, which is easily the worst and most uninteresting part of the trip, hands down.

  • NOLA: French Quarter

These photos are from when I visited New Orleans on a work trip earlier this spring. It was my first time there and I thought it was a really cool city. Everything was very unique and interesting, from the architecture to the different cultural influences in everything (cuisine, language, etc).

Earlier, I also posted a gallery from when we roamed around in the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden on that same trip.

A nice day for a stroll through the sculpture garden at City Park in New Orleans.

  • A Nightmare on Esplanade Ave

This may be the creepiest house I’ve ever seen. It was just a couple of blocks over from where we stayed in New Orleans, during my team meetup last week. It’s like a real-life House of 1000 Corpses. Notice the glass shards all along the wall – do you think that’s so people don’t get in … or out?

  • The Heidelberg Project

The Heidelberg Project is an outdoor art project in Detroit, Michigan, in the McDougall-Hunt neighborhood on the city’s east side. It was created in 1986 by the artist Tyree Guyton after he returned to Heidelberg (the street where he grew up) after serving in the Army and found it in shambles. Guyton was assisted by his wife, Karen, and grandfather Sam Mackey.

  • Whistler, BC – Automattic GM 2016

Whistler, BC – Automattic GM 2016

This past September, Automattic held it’s annual Grand Meetup – where the entire company (located all around the world) gets together in one location to talk about past and future goals, work on some fun projects, and hang out with each other.

This year, we went to Whistler, BC Canada. I absolutely loved it! The hotels were right in the village so it felt like we were still a part of everything going on in the surrounding area. Last year, in Park City, UT, it felt like we were much more secluded … it felt kind of like The Shining.

The food options were very good, the activities available were really fun, and the scenery overall was amazing!

** As usual, I’m a couple months behind on this post. I’ve been pretty bad at being on top of things here, lately. Trying to get better at that! :/
